LIVIVA Lemon Basil Aglio e Olio

A classic Italian dish with a subtle lemon accent, golden garlic, and fresh basil. Letting the pasta fry lightly on low heat before serving enhances the texture and flavor.

Ingredients:

  • LIVIVA Spaghetti protein pasta (225 g package) made with Mulberry leaf | Pea Protein
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (or vegan butter substitute)
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or diced
  • Zest and juice of 1/4 large lemon
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cook LIVIVA pasta according to package instructions and drain. Set aside.
  2. In a large-sided skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until the    butter melts. Add garlic slices and sauté until golden and fragrant, being careful not to burn.
  3. Stir in lemon zest, juice, and chili flakes. Season with salt and black pepper.
  4. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Increase heat slightly and let the pasta fry lightly in the sauce for 2–3 minutes, tossing occasionally to coat and develop a golden touch.
  5. Remove from heat and toss in the torn basil leaves. Drizzle with extra olive oil before serving for added richness. Toss with a handful of grated parmesan cheese or substitute dairy free cheese!
